Getting paid for writing books

This week has been a good week. I got paid close to $1500 in royalties for sales of my story Animal Friends: Floating Orange Cubes. At the start of the year, the book hit the Amazon charts after a reddit AMA I did hit the front page. Kids all around the world ended up checking it out. Even this guy had a read.

And now, the money has rolled in to my bank account. I don’t really care too much about the money. The fact that some people ended up reading a tale that began as an embryo in my brain is enough of a reward in itself. I promised from the beginning that I would always be as open an honest as possible with any finances that came my way. So, in the interest of following up on that promise, here are the invoices that came my way this week.

From the United States book market

From the Australian book market

Sure, it doesn’t come close to covering the amount of time and energy I spent pouring love into this venture (or any of the hidden fees that Lightning Source kindly billed me for), but it sure is a lot more than most other writers will see this month. And for that I am extremely grateful.

So where do you guys think I should spend these profits? Let me know in the comments below and I’ll do my best to follow up on any popular ideas deemed worthy.

  1. You should spend a few bucks, buy my books and give them an honest review. Thus paying forward the good karma.
